World Famous Christie’s Auction House Visits DANAT

The Bahrain Institute for Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT) was privileged to host David Warren, Senior International Jewellery Director, and Max Fawcett, Jewellery Specialist from Christie’s, the premier international fine art, gemstones and jewellery auctioneers, at their laboratory. DANAT’s CEO Kenneth Scarratt provided the guests with a guided tour of the facilities as well as demonstrations of the work carried out by DANAT’s gemmologists and a taste of the Institute’s future educational offerings. Kenneth Scarratt also took the opportunity to highlight Bahrain’s pearling heritage and its jewellery industry.

Commenting on the visit, Kenneth Scarratt said “It was an honour to receive David and Max within DANAT; David in particular has spent much of his notable and lengthy career with Christies learning from and collating significant data on important pearls and pearl jewellery that have passed through his expert hands; his visit to Bahrain and the Institute was greatly appreciated”.

The international auction house Christie’s is renowned for its expertise in all areas of fine and decorative arts including, painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery, collectables and more. These items, some of which are of significant historical value, are sold in Christie’s auctions held in locations across the world.
