Bangkok, Thailand January 28 – 2nd February 2019: As part of Danat’s Headline Partner relationship with the Oscars of the Gem & Jewellery Industry – the JNA Awards program, DANAT CEO, Kenneth Scarratt joined with representatives of the JNA Awards organisers, judges and sponsors on visits to some of Thailand’s most successful companies, ranging from large publicly quoted and/or multinational organisations with up to 14,000 employees to very successful smaller enterprises.
Key takeaways from the visits were how innovation at all levels of production and employee welfare have been key to the success of the businesses, along with creativity, sustainability, and a conduct that is ethically responsible. All qualities that also lie at the very core of Danat’s operations in Bahrain.
Another success factor for all these companies lies with the Thai government’s support which was seen to be clearly evident through the effectively functioning free zone at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the numerous bonded facilities within the very large Gemopolis complex that allow for the tax and duty-free import of all the raw materials necessary for successful jewellery exports – one of Thailand top exports by value.
During a briefing held at the offices of the Thai Gem & Jewellery Traders Association (TGJTA) Mr. Scarratt along with other sponsors, the organisers and judges gave encouragement to the Thai industry to express more of their talent globally by entering for one or more of the 2019 JNA award categories as clearly the study program had shown many more companies could and should be showcased.
Also discussed amongst the study group was a desire for the next study tour to take place in Bahrain in November 2019 just prior to or alongside the planned Environment & Pearl Symposium, CIBJO Congress and Jewellery Arabia.
DANAT CEO, Kenneth Scarratt commented, “there is much that can be learned from observing the innovation and efficiencies in production present in the Thai gemstone and jewellery sectors and indeed also the industry globally for this reason Danat and Bahrain in general can look forward to an exciting November when numerous global interactions may energize and embolden Bahrain’s amazing pearl and jewellery sectors”.
