Honourees announced for DANAT sponsored JNA Awards 2018

The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) has confirmed that it will be one of the Headline Partner of the prestigious and internationally renowned JNA Awards for 2018. DANAT is joined by other Headline Partners including Chow Tai Fook and the Shanghai Diamond Exchange as well as KGK Group, Guangdong Gem & Jade Exchange and Guangdong Land Holdings Limited as Honoured Partners of the JNA Awards 2018.

A press conference was held alongside the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair (21st-24th June 2018) to announce the eagerly awaited seventh edition of the JNA Awards 2018 Honourees list which covers 12 award categories. CEO Kenneth Scarratt represented DANAT on the press conference panel, delivering a speech to an international audience of media reporters and industry professionals about DANAT and Bahrain’s proud natural pearling heritage.

Reflecting on DANAT’s participation as Headline Partner of the JNA Awards, Kenneth Scarratt commented ‘DANAT is honoured to Headline Partner with the JNA Awards for the first time in 2018. The JNA Awards celebrate innovation, creativity, transparency, sustainability and conduct that is ethically responsible within the jewellery and gem industry. The individuals and companies recongised in the JNA Awards Honourees list have been shown to exemplify these qualities and practices’.

The JNA Awards, organised by UBM Asia, is an annual celebration to recognise the achievements of individuals and companies within the Jewellery and gemstone industry that have demonstrated innovation, best business practices and excellence.

The JNA Awards 2018 have received a recording breaking 127 highly qualified submissions from 16 countries from Asia, Europe and the GCC. ‘Industry Innovation of the Year’ and ‘Brand of the Year – Retail’ awards were the most popular categories.

The independent judging panel for the JNA Awards 2018 consist of industry experts including Albert Cheng, Advisor to the World Gold Council (WGC) and former Managing Director, Far East (WGC); James Courage, former Chief Executive of Platinum Guild International (PGI) and former Chairman of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC); Lin Qiang, President and Managing Director of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE); Mark Lee, Research Director of Asia Pacific Institute for Strategy (APIFS); Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in India and the Middle East; and Yasukazu Suwa, Chairman of Suwa & Son, Inc.

The winners of each of the award categories will be announced at the JNA Awards ceremony and Gala Dinner on 16th September 2018. The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be decided and announced in July 2018 prior to the award ceremony. Kenneth Scarratt will attend the prestigious JNA Awards to represent DANAT and Bahrain as a hub for gemmological excellence to the global jewellery and gemstone industry.
